15. Brimbank Bicycle, Vic

Quick Win project No. 15: Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre, Vic

Brimbank Bicycle provides Road Safety Education and Learn to Ride Programs for Pre-School and Primary Schools three days a week. They also conduct these programs for community groups such as scouts and guides on weekday evenings and at weekends. They conduct Riding Programs for the disabled with a fleet of special needs trikes and bikes on two days a week, and at weekends the facility is hired by families and other community groups for birthday parties and other functions. In total, between 400 and 500 people use the centre each week.

See what has been achieved via the CORENA loan to Brimbank Bicycle so far

As of 24/04/17, the loan to Brimbank Bicycle has achieved:

Project 15 kW (solar &/or
EE equivalent)
MWh to date
Approx* CO2
avoided to date
Dollar value
of achievement
At Brimbank Bicycle 6.70 kW 0.46 MWh 0.46 t $11,000
At subsequent projects 0.00 kW 0.00 MWh 0.00 t $0
Total 6.70 kW 0.46 MWh 0.46 t $11,000

Install date: 07/04/17.
Number of days in operation: 17.

* Since the amount of CO2 avoided is highly dependent on the fuel source used for local grid electricity, and since each CORENA project is in a different location, we have used 1MWh = 1 tonne as a rough approximation across all projects.

This project has been fully funded – Thank you!

Loan amount: $11,000
Loan repayments: $550/quarter
Status: Funded project

NOTE: It’s difficult to calculate the exact dollar savings for this project because the solar PV H/W is adding hot water availability that wasn’t previously there and will be using excess solar PV generation to heat the water. However, the Brimbank Board has offered to repay this loan in 5 years, with quarterly repayments of $550, even though it is unlikely they will actually save that much each quarter. Either way they are delighted to have our loan to make this project possible because they are aiming at setting a good example to their community.
