Solar panels on Frances's landlord-tenant joint project roof

Project 22: Landlord-tenant project – Frances, Uralla, NSW

Z-NET Uralla provided a free home energy assessment for this residential rental premises and recommended the premises for one of our interest-free solar PV loans. In this particular case, additional ceiling insulation was also being added and the tenant will pay an extra $5/week in rent out of their savings on electricity bills.

Landlords who apply for a CORENA loan undertake to discuss our scheme with their tenants and to collect no more than half of the tenant’s savings on power bills via a small increase in rent. This is intended to split the benefit of the solar installation roughly equally between tenant and landlord.

* The MWh figure is the amount of grid electricity avoided by solar electricity generation and energy efficiency measures. The resultant reductions in carbon emissions can be visualised as an equivalent number of average households switching from grid electricity to 100% renewable electricity, noting that the subsequent projects have been avoiding grid electricity for less time than the original project.
