How did we calculate this?
For over 11 years, we have tracked how loan repayments from our 56 projects have been reinvested into new projects. By following the flow of repayments through our revolving energy fund, we have been able to attribute a portion of each original donation to the subsequent projects it helped support.
This tracking has created a valuable dataset that demonstrates how donations can grow their impact over time. Rather than being spent once, contributions continue to circulate through the fund, helping deliver more renewable energy projects for communities across Australia.
The total impact generated by each donation varies depending on the balance between loan repayments and new donations contributing to each project. As expected, earlier projects have had more opportunities to reuse their initial funding and have therefore generated a greater cumulative impact than more recent projects.
As the number of projects has grown, maintaining this level of detailed analysis has become increasingly labour-intensive. We have therefore used the historical rate of growth from existing projects to estimate the future impact of donations.
