Workers installing solar panels at Peacemakers

Project 26: Peacemakers, SA

Peacemakers have set up aquaponics, biogas working installations and organic gardens using permaculture methods. Their aim is to research sustainable methods and technologies to help people locally and internationally to develop a better way of life and alleviate poverty where it exists. Once these foundations for life are in place education is of primary importance.

The solar installation is used for educational purposes as well as reducing Peacemakers carbon footprint.

* The MWh figure is the amount of grid electricity avoided by solar electricity generation and energy efficiency measures. The resultant reductions in carbon emissions can be visualised as an equivalent number of average households switching from grid electricity to 100% renewable electricity, noting that the subsequent projects have been avoiding grid electricity for less time than the original project.
