38. Robert Menzies College, NSW

Robert Menzies College with CORENA funded solar panels on roof

Renewable Energy Project: Solar Panels, Wallumattagal clan of the Dharug Nation

The Robert Menzies College project was our largest ever project at the time and we already had close to enough funds in our Big Win funding stream, so we used those funds to start reducing carbon emissions faster than otherwise would have been possible.

The college installed a 99.4kW solar system, funded in part by themselves but assisted by the $70,000 interest-free loan from CORENA. It was switched on in early April, 2020. The portion of the installation funded by CORENA is now saving around 70 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.

This project has been fully funded – Thank you!

Loan amount: $70,000
Loan repayments: $3,600/quarter
Status: Funded project – loan repayment in progress
Installation date: 1/4/2020

Work details

99.4kW solar PV
LG 350W solar panels
SolarEdge inverters
SolarEdge optimisers

Cost: $130,000 ($70,000 from CORENA)
Expected savings: CORENA-funded part: 78,419kWh/year, $12,385/year

Reduction in carbon emissions/yr: Equivalent to 14.13 average households using renewable electricity instead of grid electricity
