38. Robert Menzies College

Solar on the roof of Robert Menzies College central building

Project 38 – Robert Menzies College, NSW

The Robert Menzies College project was our largest ever project at the time and we already had close to enough funds in our Big Win funding stream, so we used those funds to start reducing carbon emissions faster than otherwise would have been possible.

The college installed a 99.4kW solar system, funded in part by themselves but assisted by the $70,000 interest-free loan from CORENA. It was switched on in early April, 2020. The portion of the installation funded by CORENA is now saving around 70 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.

* The MWh figure is the amount of grid electricity avoided by solar electricity generation and energy efficiency measures. The Houses figure is number of households that can be powered for a year by that amount of electricity (based on Ausgrid 2019 figures for NSW and Vic residential customers).
