56. Byron Community College, NSW

Renewable Energy Project: Solar Panels, Bundjalung people

Byron Community College are a community organisation that provides a wide range of training to the wider community. They operate a number of nationally recognised training courses as well as a large amount of short courses (100+ per term). They also provide youth training, local markets and have a community garden.

Byron Community College had an existing 30kW system which, after multiple inspections was condemned due to age and condition. CORENA was able to provide a loan to allow them to install a replacement system. The existing panels will be removed, tested and where suitable, reused.

The existing system exported a lot of electricity so CORENA assisted the college to size their new system to meet their current needs while still allowing for a battery and growth in the future.
