Installation of our first Getting off gas project is now complete, eliminating the need for LPG for cooking and hot water heating in Commonground Training Centre’s accomodation area.
Commonground is an intentional community and not-for-profit social enterprise that has been supporting social justice, environmental, disadvantaged and community groups since 1984.
Commonground provides accommodation and conference facilities for social and environmental change organisations and is set on regenerated bushland, just over one hour’s drive north of Melbourne and 15 minutes from Seymour by car.
This loan allowed them to install a 400L CO2 Heat Pump Hot Water system and a freestanding induction cooktop as well as complete required switchboard upgrades. These upgrades will be supported by Stage 2 of this project, a 13.2kW solar system and 16kWh battery has now been fully fundraised and will begin installation shortly, allowing these super efficient appliances to run on renewable energy.
Mani Heck, Hospitality Manager at Commonground Training Centre said “Commonground is excited that we are able to take such a significant step toward reliance on renewable energy so quickly. This would not have been possible without the amazing work of CORENA! “ Find out more.
