How did we calculate this?
For 11 years and 56 projects, from our establishment in 2013 to 2024, we tracked which loan repayments went to which subsequent projects and apportioned a percentage from the original donation to these subsequent repayments. This has given us a dataset which has shown how donations have grown in their impact over time via the revolving energy fund. The dollar value per project depends on the proportion of repayments vs donations that make up the loan, but as would be expected, the early projects have reused their donations so far more times than the later projects.
The sheer number of projects has now made this analysis very labour intensive so we have used the rate of growth from these existing projects to calculate the donation impact. The results from the above calculator are therefore indicative only.
